YOUR WEEKEND MOTIVATION: MAKING 2016 A MEMORABLE YEAR

1. Keep silent, talk less:
Whatever you feel inspired to do in the coming year, keep silent and keep it on the low. Don't talk too much about it. Cultivate a principle of, "If it is not in my hands, I will hold it in till it comes to fruition." Otherwise, you will find yourself boasting & appear a liar when whatever is to come doesn't happen. Silence is golden indeed. Here in Ghana, we say, "ahwene pa nkasa" meaning "Good beads don't talk."

Not everyone loves your success and loves to see you prosper. You are awesome!

2. Be well informed:
Whatever has happened, has happened. Whatever didn't happen, didn't. There is a solution to every problem. An answer to every question. A way out of every hole.

So instead of sulking over a dead year, gather more information about anything you set out to achieve next year and you will do just fine. You will make it.

3. Don't look at somebody before you make a move.
People will always discourage you. Some may be "ahead" but it is no competition. You have your own race to run. Looking at people makes you compare, covet and envy what you may not have because probably you don't need it. Cut it out this time next year. You are all you need. Believe in yourself.

4. Work wholeheartedly at whatever you do.
Be full of compassion, passion, sacrifice and commitment. You will never have time. Make time for your spouse next year. Make time for that business. Work wholeheartedly and not just for monetary gain. Success always stops when self sacrifice ceases.

5. Do what it really means to be yourself and to be content.
To be content and to be yourself doesn't mean stay at one place. It doesn't mean don't be ambitious either. Being content and being yourself means:
a. Be who you are.
b. Live within your means
c. Don't try to impress people
And lastly and most importantly,
d. IMPROVE.

Yeah, to be yourself and to be content is to improve yourself.
In 2016, improve the unstable finances . Improve that relationship and/or marriage. Improve on your weight. Don't be left behind in 2016. The only competition is with yourself. Make 2016 memorable. IMPROVE.

Losing Stomach Fat Fast

fitnessmagazine

Believe it or not, everybody has a flat tummy! Yeah, true. The thing is, undigested food accumulates in the intestines, making up to 5%  of total body weight; And as such, most tummies are covered with this accumulated excess fat. Also, blood sugar (glucose) can cover a person's tummy with excess fat since glucose can add more fat around the tummy. If most of your diet is sugary or starchy, you will experience this situation because starchy and sugary foods are a great source of blood sugar or glucose.

Regularly partaking in intensive cardiovascular exercises, mid-section strength training and maintaining a stable blood sugar level will make you lose this stomach fat easily. When you go cardio, you will not only keep yourself healthy, but you will get that killer trim waist line and flat tummy devoid of excess fat that you've always dreamed of.

jessyfashionmag

This is so because, cardiovascular exercises are targeted at raising your heart rate, keeping your muscles in shape and making them stronger. Now hold on here. Don't let the word muscle scare you, because your heart is also a muscle and that's what I am talking about. Cardio exercises also stabilize blood sugar levels in your body, boosts your lung capacity and burns calories.
Go on and give some of the following cardio exercises a try:

1. Swimming

This co-ordinated movement, whereby your limbs and/or body glides through water or another liquid, mostly for recreation, sport, exercise, or even survival is a low-impact exercise that needs no introduction at all. Not only will you achieve all the benefits of cardiovascular exercise when you swim, but since you will feel weightless as you glide through the water, it will help reduce impact on your joints.

What It Really Does For You:

Because some swimming movements will require you to move your arms up and over the water while moving your legs too, it becomes a very daunting task for you. However, this is good for you because your heart will pump faster to sustain you as you do this, strengthening your heart muscles in the process. Depending on your efforts, you can burn about 800 calories in just an hour of a swimming exercise!

2. Walking (Brisk)

You sure know that a simple walk through the grocery store will not do that much to or for your belly or your body. A regular walk that is brisk and intensive enough to leave you breathing at a faster rate than usual, give some strains to your leg muscles  and lets you sweat at least lightly, is what will help you a great deal.

What It Really Does For You:

If your walking is vigorous enough, such that it will give your heart and lungs a challenging workout, not only will you get rid of belly fat, but you will experience the awesome benefits of lower rates of heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure.

3. Bicycling/Biking/Cycling

mvlevelo

Back some years ago, cycling was a fun activity we all loved to engage in. But now, with more awareness and consciousness of or on our health, particularly our weight, whether you jump on an exercise bike or a "normal'' bike, it won't be just for the fun of it, but to reap lots of benefits essential for our health.

womenshealthmag.com

What It Really Does For You:

Depending on the duration and intensity of your cycling, you will burn lots of calories and strengthen your hips and knees. Since you will be working your entire lower body as you pedal away regularly, you will soon be spotting a tight body. Particularly for women, you will get a tight butt plus toned thighs too.

NB:
Cardio exercises are part of any weight loss program. If done well and properly, your metabolism will increase for a full 24 hours and even more!
For workout intervals, make sure you always warm up for 2 to 5 minutes at an easy pace prior to beginning any of these exercises. Perform any of these exercises for 30 seconds. Make it hard and challenging as possible. Always have a recovery time to catch your breath and take a water break (if you want) in about a minute. Now repeat this cycle 5-10 times & you are good to go.  To prevent injuries and little niggles that may pop up in your muscles, don't forget to stretch a little before, during or after hard exercising.

Seven ways to grow your small business on Facebook

With an average of more than 1 billion daily active Facebook users, who post at least 510 comments every minute, it can be difficult for small businesses to stand out from the crowd. To be noticed, small businesses need to get creative and post content that is likable and sharable – in other words, that which is interesting, relevant or humourous.

However, whatever you do, you don’t want to appear desperate so it’s worth checking out the Condescending Corporate Brands page on Facebook before you start, for ideas of what not to do.

Day 1: Don’t just sell, give
Key to successful Facebook marketing is growing the reach of your page past your friends and family and into the wider marketplace. Encouraging people to share content is a core strategy here. The more they share, the more others will see it – and hopefully will share it too.

While some will share a post because it contains an advert for a product or service that is of interest to them, generally people share content because it adds value to their world in some way.

This is something Janette Shaw, co-owner and director of Eva Kingston, a contemporary art gallery and artisan gift shop based in Riverhead, near Sevenoaks in Kent, has experimented with.

“As well as posting about our own gifts and art work, we also share interesting articles that might catch someone’s attention. For example, I recently shared a magazine article that focused on the different ways to display home photos – the aim being to inspire our followers and encourage them to think more creatively. We have definitely noticed more interaction from people off the back of posts like these,” she says.

Day 2: Create video
Facebook users are creating 75% more video posts than they were a year ago, which equates to around eight billion videos being viewed on the site each day. Over 1.5 million small businesses posted a video (organic posts and ads) on Facebook in September.

Ciaran Quilty, SME regional director EMEA, Facebook, says: “Great video content isn’t about big budgets; it’s about being really clear about what your business stands for, who your customers are and what they want to see and hear.”

Once upon a time it would have been out of an SME’s budget to produce a video, but with the advent of smartphones and apps it is much easier and cheaper. Even if you do choose to use a proper production company, high impact video can still be made at a low cost if it has a compelling storyline. First Kiss, a video from the fashion studio, WREN, received more than 108m views but cost less than £1,000 to make.

Other ways of introducing video to your feed without actually shooting footage is to use video chats or stream live events. ooVoo facilitates video chats with up to 12 people on Facebook and lets you send video messages and record videos, while Livestream allows you to broadcast events as they happen.

Day 3: Publish photos
Social marketing company BuzzSumo recently conducted a study of more than one million Facebook articles to see whether using images influenced success. It did. Posts with an image earned 2.3 times as much engagement as those without.

As the saying goes, a picture tells a thousand stories. Therefore, any image used needs to tell your story. It has to be relevant. There are some small businesses for who finding photos will be easy – restaurants, florists, clothes labels, book stores, anything that sells or creates a physical product will have a wealth of potential images at their fingertips. But for those that don’t, a little creative thinking is in order.

Alternatives could include charts, infographics and screengrabs of projects, comics and cartoons, or memes – the overlaying of amusing or informative quotes on top of images. Make sure you secure copyright for all images before use though.

Day 4: Join the club
Facebook can be used to encourage those people who like or share your page to become loyal customers – by offering the opportunity for people to sign up to receive a newsletter, to join a loyalty club or participate in some other activity. Trollbeads UK, for example, invites owners of Trollbeads to send Christmas cards to other Trollbead lovers around the world – then it allows you to capture contact data and woo them over time.

However, strict rules apply regarding data protection and to break them means running the risk of a fine from the Information Commissioner’s Office so make sure you read up beforehand.

Day 5: Run a competition
People love a competition, and may be willing to share it among their friends if they think the prize is worth it. A whole host of third party developed apps can help you set up your contest. Heyo, for example, has an easy-to-use editor and templates for you to create contests and promotions, while Tabsite helps you build Facebook tabs for sweepstakes and competitions, as well as reviews and deals. These apps provide data capture tools and allow the competition to be fully branded and shareable.

However, be warned, Facebook really doesn’t like it when brands create contests that require people to share a post or tag their friends in order to enter. Indeed, they’ve got a few rules they want you to abide to when running competitions. Take a look at Facebook’s guidelines to avoid being blacklisted.

Day 6: Ask your customers to contribute
Social media is just that – social. It isn’t meant to be a broadcast tool. It is designed specifically for people to interact with each other. Beyond the obvious ‘like’ and ‘share’, there are lots of ways in which you can ask your customers to engage with you on Facebook.

Ask customers to check in on Facebook so that their timeline displays a visit to your premises, or encourage them to share photos of them using the items they have purchased, and to review what they thought.

Asking customers about what they like and dislike – not just about your particular business, but the wider field within which you work, can also boost engagement. Polldaddy and Polls for Facebook, for example, are just a couple of apps that allow brands to easily create surveys, polls and rating systems.

Day 7: Link to other activities
Reciprocal altruism theory suggests that if people perceive others to be cooperative and helpful, then they are more likely to also be helpful and cooperative themselves. This theory can be applied to Facebook. If you promote another business on Facebook, they will know you have done so and are likely to do the same for you – opening up an entire new audience for your business and encouraging local alliances. For example, a local butcher knows that the deli down the road makes a delicious apple chutney that goes perfectly with his roast pork and so gives them a little plug. They then return the favour.

Katie Price's daughter Princess fires back at criticism over her heavy make-up

Katie Price's daughter Princess has hit back at criticism over photos and video footage showing her with heavy make-up this week.

The eight-year-old was pictured and filmed wearing make-up and what appears to be false nails, but she's hit back in a new clip - insisting SHE did the make-up, not her famous mum.

Katie posted a video of her daughter on Instagram, as Princess said: "By the way, I do my make-up not my mum, I do. And anyway it's none of your beeswax so oosh."

NEVER cross Princess.
It comes after Katie, 37, dressed her daughter up as her panto character - the Wicked Fairy - and posted snaps on Instagram as they played about in her dressing room.

While many saw the pictures as innocent mother-daughter bonding - others were horrified by the sight of the youngster so dolled up.

One commenter ranted: "What the h*** is wrong with this this girls mom; this is over sexualizing a little girl. This is sad"

Another claimed even for dressing up sake, it wasn't appropriate.

"This is WRONG!! Mucking around or not...it's still wrong!!" they wrote alongside the image.
Some stuck up for Pricey though and insisted there was "no harm" in playing dress up.

"Oh ffs some people need 2 lighten up she's gone with her mum and has been dressed up the same 4 fun I see lots of natural photos she puts on ea it's clearly Been done for fun n bit of mummy n princess time x"
While another added: "I bet princess had an absolute ball doing dress up and make-up with mummy. Keep doing what you're doing Katie, there's no harm in having fun with your kids! Jeez everyone needs to chill out, it's not like they are off down the shops or to school like that!"
Katie and mini-me Princess appeared oblivious to any problem and seemed like they were having a great time though.

The mother of five - who's starring in Sleeping Beauty in Woking, Surrey - captioned one picture of the pair wearing matching horn head-dresses: "Like mother like daughter".

She proudly showed off her daughter's singing abilities in a video of Princess singing Little Mix's Black Magic - the song Katie revealed she sings herself in the pantomine.
Katie made her pantomime debut on Friday at the New Victoria Theatre.

She was pictured leaving the venue with daughter Bunny and husband Kieran Hayler after her first show and seemed in good spirits, despite previously admitting she was nervous about treading the boards.

It's not the first time Katie has been criticised for letting Princess wear make-up. In 2010 ex-husband Peter Andre said he was "horrified" when a photo of the school child wearing fake eyelashes and make up was circulated on social media.

At the time the former glamour model insisted she was a "good mother".

Divorce Bells Ringing as Beyonce and Jay-Z Reportedly Not Sleeping Together

Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z are hit with split reports yet again. The pair, who have been married for seven years, are not sleeping together anymore and even living in separate areas of their Beverly Hills mansion, Radar Online reports.

"Jay-Z and Beyonce each have their own bedrooms," a person identified as a staffer dishes on the couple's alleged marital problems. "They are on opposite sides of a long hallway with Blue Ivy's room in between them."

Previously, an insider told the site that Beyonce and Jay-Z had explosive fights in front of their staff. "Beyonce blew up at Jay-Z for no reason and was barking orders at everyone like she was the first person to ever move into a new home," the insider recalled.

"They got into a huge fight in front of everyone over how he is handling the move. He told her that they only reason they chose this place to begin with is because it is what she wanted, not him. He told her that he is really sick and tired of being her b***h."

As of press time, reps for Beyonce and Jay-Z have not confirmed or denied the latest rumors, though the couple has persistently debunked reports of their alleged split.

Michelle Dockery thanks fans for their 'support and kindness' following 34 year old fiancé's death

Michelle Dockery's family have thanked fans and friends for their 'support and kindness' after her fiancés death this weekend.

John Dineen, 34, passed away in Cork's Marymount Hospital on Sunday morning after an illness, and the family have asked to be "left to grieve in private".

A spokesperson for the family told Mirror Online: "The family is very grateful for the support and kindness they have received but would kindly request that they are left to grieve in private.”

John is believed to have died from a 'rare form of cancer', according to the Mail Online.

Michelle, also 34, and John are believed to have started dating in 2013, after being introduced by co-star Allen Leech, who plays a former chauffeur in the ITV show. It's thought they got engaged in February this year.
Michelle rose to fame playing the lead female role of Lady Mary Crawley in the smash hit period drama Downton Abbey, which aired from 2010 until the final series was screened this year.

She has been nominated for three consecutive Emmy Awards as well as a Golden Globe Award for her role.

The couple hit the headlines earlier this year when it was reported that Michelle was excitedly showing off a diamond ring to her co-stars during screen tests for Downton Abbey.
The private pair never commented publicly on their relationship status.

In an interview in late 2014, Michelle said: "I have a wonderful man in my life from Ireland.

"We were introduced by Allen Leech. That's all you need to know."
It is reported that John was raised in Waterfall, on the outskirts of Cork City.

He completed his undergraduate studies at UCC before completing a masters in UCD in 2005.

He worked as a Senior Director in FTI Consulting in London.

A private funeral service will take place in Cork on December 16.

10 Ways to Travel Like a Kardashian

For those who enjoy the finer things in life, perhaps even five stars won't cut it. But the truth is, traveling like a member of the Kardashian Krew doesn't require a millionaire's bank account.

With a little planning, some help from a few great websites and a dash (see what I did there?) of fashion sense, you'll be well on your way to traveling like one of the Kardashians without depleting your bank account.

1. NEVER WAIT IN LINE AGAIN
Waiting in line with the common folk? Ain't nobody got time for that. For less than $100, you can expedite the security screening process by enrolling in TSA Pre-check (unfortunately this option is only open to those with a valid photo ID and proof of citizenship/ immigration documentation). There's no need to embarrass yourself by taking off shoes and belts, or by taking out your laptop.

2. DRIVE IN THE LAP OF LUXURY
One of the first signs you're a wealthy traveler like Khloe Kardashian? Get seen in a sweet ride as you cruise around town. While you may not want a velvet-cloaked Range Rover, you can rent high-end cars (think Porsches, Mercedes and even Ferrari) from rental agencies like Enterprise and Hertz. True, these luxury cruisers come with a hefty price tag, but split the cost with your squad and that Lamborghini will start costing you about as much as a compact sedan.

3. DRESS THE PART
Comfortable, easy-to-remove shoes? Nah. Those are for another girl. When it comes to traveling like one of the Kardashian elite, there are no sweat pants or hoodies here. Airports are like catwalks and the K sisters wouldn't be caught dead looking anything other than flawless, so you shouldn't either. Trade your sneakers for some high heels and those leggings for some leather pants. If Louboutins are just a hair out of your price range, check out sites like Rent the Runway, Gilt or even the Kardashians' very own Dash to pick up your next airport-ready getup.

4. DON'T FORGET TO EAT YOUR GREENS
What's that salad the Kardashian/Jenner klan is always shoving into their perfectly glossed mouths? We found out. Trade the greasy snacks and high-cal airport food for a salad and some fresh-pressed juice. Going organic? Kourtney would be so proud.

5. KONTOUR, KONTOUR, KONTOUR
Bare-faced? Not these girls. If you're one of the millions of people who follow Kylie Jenner on SnapChat, then you know her hair and beauty game is always on fleek. Cop a follow and learn how to get the perfect kontour for your face (and for that perfect beach getaway).

6. TAKE A LUXURY JET (ON THE CHEAP)
There's arguably nothing more elite than flying on your own private jet. But, if you're like the rest of us common folk, this might be a bit out of your price range. Enter sites like Jetsuite.com, which offers private bookings on its fleet of WiFi-equipped JetSuite Edition CJ3 and Phenom 100 aircraft. The price tag for this kind of luxury will still be higher than your standard commercial flight, but if you become a member you'll get access to the SuiteDeals section, where last minute flights are posted at a deeply discounted rate.

7. TRADE THE MOTEL FOR A MANSION
Want to get that much closer to traveling like a Kardashian? Then a Holiday Inn or Motel 6 just isn't going to cut it. With sites like Airbnb and Vacation Rentals by Owner, that mansion, high-end suite or even castle you've been side-eying is suddenly looking way more attainable.

8. MAKE A TRAVEL VIDEO
Okay, so Kim. K may be known for starring in another video, but the star and her famous family are also known to have a little G-rated fun every once and a while. Why not channel your inner Pink, Christina, or the Notorious B.I.G. and get your krew shimmying and lip-syncing to your favorite tunes. Bonus: you'll have memories of your trip to cherish forever.

9. BE A LITTLE "SELFISH"
It's pretty safe to say Kim K. is the queen of taking selfies. Not only did she have the most liked Instagram photo in the world, but she's managed to turn a reality TV show and millions of social media followers into a lucrative brand by focusing on the networks where she's got her biggest audience. She even has some posting rules that she lives by. Take a page from her book, Selfish, and don't leave home without your selfie stick to get in on the action.

10. TRAVEL WITH YOUR RIDE OR DIE
Say what you will about the K klan, but through it all, they've proved that family always comes first. So, when booking your own trip to some exotic location (or Connecticut), don't go it alone. Bring along a BFF or, better yet, your sister and rock those bikinis like nobody's business.

30 year old British model Laura Carter in threesome with Justin Bieber

A British model has told how she had a threesome with Justin Bieber after being whisked back to his hotel in a blacked-out car when the star picked her out on a nightclub dancefloor.
Laura Carter was partying with friends in London's Tape club when Bieber's security men invited her to join 20 women at his table.
At around 2:30am, the 21-year-old singer, who was unwinding after headlining the Jingle Bell Ball at London's 02 Arena on Sunday, asked her to come to his hotel for a private party - which ended with a visit from police.

Miss Carter, 30, told The Sun on Sunday's Nicola Fahey she wanted to take a selfie but couldn't because she'd been made to leave her mobile phone in a bucket at the door.
She said: 'I was taken to this huge room which had been kitted out with a massive sounds system and there was booze everywhere.
'There were four boys and a group of ten girls, all really glamorous.'

Miss Carter, originally from Leeds but now living in West London, said Bieber began showing off his dance moves and then suggested a game of truth or dare at the historic Rosewood Hotel.
After taking a girl to the bedroom, Miss Carter says he returned in his boxer shorts 20 minutes later. It was at that point the model, who appeared in E4's Young, Free and Single, said Bieber took her hand and led her to a room where a second woman was lying on the bed in her underwear.
The trio began kissing before the second girl stormed off at what Miss Carter said was a lack of attention from the singer.

She and Bieber continued before saying their goodbyes at around 6.30am. Shortly before, police were called to the hotel in High Holborn when one of the women at Bieber's party had a 'meltdown'.
A source told The Sun last week: ' She stormed down to reception in no shoes and made a right scene.
'She was saying, "Where's my friend? I'll call the police!" She'd clearly enjoyed the night a bit too much and eventually did call the cops.'
The Met Police confirmed that they were called at approximately 06.15hrs on Monday to a hotel in High Holborn following concerns for the welfare of a female who was at the venue.
'Officers attended and it was established that the female was safe and well. There were no offences committed and no further police action was taken.'
Justin Bieber's representatives have been contacted  for a comment.

Justin Bieber's Crush Is Super Nice

The mystery beauty who caught Justin Bieber's eye is a student who earns £3-an-hour babysitting, it has been revealed.
The pretty brunette, who goes by the Instagram name 'wolfiecindy', is Spanish 17-year-old Cindy Kimberly.
Pop sensation Bieber, 21, put the pretty teenager on the world map when he posted her picture on Instagram on Monday and asking: 'OMG who is this!'

Fans flocked to Twitter to tell him it was a girl called Cindy Kimberly, who has attracted thousands of followers by posting selfies using the Instagram name 'wolfiecindy'.
But the real-life teenager behind her carefully-crafted social media image had until today remained under wraps.
Now  the girl’s true identity has been revealed as Cindy Kimberley, who lives in the Costa Blanca resort of Denia near Benidorm and offers herself on the Internet as a babysitter charging around £3 an hour.
She describes herself on one site she advertises on as a non-smoking student.
She says in a CV resume, posted before she turned 17 earlier this year along the same photo which attracted Justin's attention:
'My name is Cindy Kimberly and I am 16.
'I can do the shopping and help with homework. If you are looking for a baby sitter and you would like to know more about me, contact me.
'I love children and I can help them with English as I have a good command of English.'
She describes herself as a student and says that although she speaks English, her native language is Spanish.

Against a section showing the rates she charges per hour, she writes: 'four to six euros' - just £2.90 to £4.35 - an amount Justin, worth $200million earns in seconds.
Her willingness to work is admirable. All the boxes from Monday to Friday morning, afternoon and night-time showing when she's available are ticked.
She also boasts of being able to look after two children at a time and says she has one year's experience with kids aged four to six.
Her two surnames  are typically Spanish with one being an ancient Valencian surname in keeping with the area she comes from.
Although it pales into insignificance compared with Justin's turbulent past, which have included several run-ins with the law over driving infractions and vandalism, an alcohol misdemeanour appears against Cindy Kimberly's name.
Town hall chiefs in Villajoyosa, a 40 minute drive of Denia, published her name on a December 2013 official bulletin, warning her she had 15 days to appeal against an administrative proceeding for breaching a by-law banning drinking in the street.
A source was unable to clarify if the incident had been dealt with by way of a fine, normal practice in by-law breaches of its kind.
In August 2012 a friend sent Cindy Kimberly a cryptic tweet which read:
'I know it hurts. I've also gone through this. I know it is one of the worst things that happen in life.
'But I tell you they weren't who they said they were, they were just covering up your eyes in a way that you didn't realise they were false. Carry on being who you are, don't change.
'They only want to see how you drown because of their comments, they want to see how you suffer.
'I'm telling you love, don't give them that pleasure.
'Shut them up with many smiles. I know it's hard but see they only want to do you damage, to f*** your life up. Last of all I just say to you: "Stay strong".'

Cindy Kimberley, who bears a striking resemblance to Russian model Irina Shayk, was overwhelmed by all the attention since the Canadian singer singled her out.

Bieber captioned the image: 'OMG who is this! As the world speculated who she could be, Cindy Kimberley released a statement on Instagram – saying:
'I so do not know how to deal with this but I only have Instagram and Tumblr so whatever other stuff people are finding is fake (I did use to have a Twitter account but I deactivated).'

NEWS: Stop Diabetes Before It Stops You

John was diagnosed diabetic at 40, but instead of focusing on the disease, he ignored it. After all, he didn’t feel sick. But gradually, his health was failing.

Today, John, now 60, is a shadow of his old self. Over the last 20 years, he has watched his body slowly disintegrate. A host of circulatory problems arising from his diabetic condition has cost him his vision, as well as nerve and bony damage to his left foot. Worse still, he is concerned about his heart. He has reason to because more than two thirds of people with diabetes die of stroke and other heart-related problems.
Although John is finally getting treatment, his prospects could have been much better if medical intervention had come much earlier. Diabetes is a chronic disease that quietly consumes the human body, to the extent that you cannot walk, you cannot stand, you cannot function and ultimately you cannot live.
There are millions of people like John in Nigeria. Six million Nigerians have diabetes. About half of this number of persons have their cases diagnosed and even less are under treatment. This makes Nigeria the country with the highest number of diabetic patients in Africa. In fact diabetes is the most common chronic illness that is being managed all over the country.
Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs when the pancreas is no longer able to produce insulin, or when the body cannot make good use of the insulin it produces. Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas, that acts like a key to let glucose from the food we eat pass from the blood stream into the cells in the body to produce energy.
The disease may remain undetected for many years and the diagnosis is often made when a complication appears or a routine blood or urine glucose test is done. It is often, but not always, associated with overweight or obesity, which itself can cause insulin resistance and lead to high blood glucose levels. People with type 2 diabetes can often initially manage their condition through exercise and diet. However, over time most people will require oral drugs and or insulin.
In Nigeria, an estimated five million people are suffering from diabetes. If this sounds bad, experts warn that the scenario is likely to get even worse as the number of diabetics is expected to double within the next 20 years, to the extent that 63 percent of undiagnosed and many that are diagnosed are not being correctly controlled. As much as 76 percent of deaths due to diabetes occur in people under the age of 60 in Africa. The bad news continues.
That the cost of diabetes management is prohibitive and gradually increasing is equally worrisome. Already, most patients seen at Federal and state teaching and specialist hospitals are often at the late stage when effective treatment is too late and only palliative measures can be administered.
What is the community doing about diabetes? What is it doing to subsidise some of the drugs for its treatment? What about the availability, and education of the public and at community level?
Just last week, some medical experts expressed concern over the burden of diabetic disorders and the rising cost of its management in the country.
Consultant Physician/Endocrinologist, Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile Ife, Osun State, Prof. Babatope Kolawole, said the magnitude of diabetes in the country is too alarming to be ignored. He noted that according to statistics, the prevalence of diabetes varies. It is a disease of urbanisation and from previous studies, the highest burden is in Lagos which has a prevalence of over 7 percent per population.
Kolawole blamed urbanisation and lifestyle factors as well as physical exercise as factors driving the epidemic and recommends that reliable preventive measures must target these. “Diabetes is a risk factor for so many other problems, and also contributes a lot to disorders such as kidney disease, blindness and amputation of the foot in Nigeria. It can precipitate emergencies that can lead to death and these are the issues related to poorly treated or untreated diabetes and no effort should be spared in instituting preventive measures at all levels of healthcare delivery in the country.”
On his own, the Chief Medical Director, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Prof. Adewale Oke, said most diabetes cases seen at the hospital are in the late stage. “The commonest complications I see involve the blood vessels and the heart. It is a common cause of myocardial infarction and can affect the heart muscles. There can be heart failure, and renal failure. When you are passing too much water without any explanation, you should investigate,” he urged.
Oke, an experienced cardiologist noted that Lagos State is thinking of starting a health insurance scheme to cover diabetes. “It has been read at the state House of Reps. but is yet to be passed, and once that is happening there will be better for management of diabetes especially in the area of drugs for management.”
One of the big worries about diabetes, according to Dr. Dorothy Esangbedo, an experienced paediatrician and renowned endocrinologist, is the increasing burden of diabetes in infants and children. Esangbedo, who is also President, Union of National African Paediatric Societies and Associations, UNAPSA, regretted that even infants and children are not spared the burden of diabetes.
“There is increase in diabetes in children. Taking a situation report today, you will find that diabetes in children is lower in Africa than Europe and the Americas, but in terms of trends over time, the rate of increase is even more in sub-Sahara Africa so much so that they are saying to us that in decades to come, diabetes would be one of the major problems we will be facing.”
The signs and symptoms of diabetes in a child are actually the same as in the adult. The only difference is that the child cannot complain so the mother has to be the one to notice these symptoms, so just like the adult will have problem of excessive passing of water so will the child. “The mother can then notice that the child is passing urine too frequently, and she can also notice that the child is too thirsty and babies tend to present with infections as skin lesions and that is when you see frequent occurrence of skin infections in the child or certain effects of pigmentation of the skin.
This is also a sign that the mother needs to complain about that child. They also tend to be weak, they will not grow, will have weight loss and most importantly, the doctor will want to know if there is family history of diabetes because that is a major pointer that diabetes is possible and tests should be done.”
If there is gestational diabetes, Esangbedo notes that it could affect the child in future and it is an indication that both the mother and the child should be closely watched for diabetes. “In the future, It is usually a good pointer because even though the mother recovers from pregnancy, she should still be closely monitored so that she can quickly put in place the lifestyle strategies that would prevent the onset of the disease.”
With the recent introduction of its brand of insulin, Sanofi, a global healthcare leader, describes this as commitment to improving access and ensuring availability to high-quality, efficacious solutions to improve the management of diabetes for patients. In addition to better support patients in the management of the disease, Sanofi is supporting opening of 12 dedicated diabetes and hypertension clinics in partnership with health authorities. The first clinic was recently inaugurated, at LASUTH.
“We believe in Public-Private partnership, that is why we are standing by the State government to fight NCDs as a whole and diabetes in particular,” said Head of Medical and Regulatory, Sanofi, Dr. Inoussa Fiffen. “By doing so, we believe that the management of diabetes should be decentralised and for the meantime, we need to focus on the rural areas so that the journey of the diabetic is smooth.”

NB: Glucose from the food we eat pass from the blood stream into the cells in the body to produce energy. Since glucose has a recommended range in the blood, a person is diagnosed as diabetic when his or her blood glucose is above or exceeds this recommended range (known as excess condition of sugar).

Why You Should Date Someone You Admire Over Someone You Love

#IAgree. . .

***
What makes a relationship last? Love. Now for the harder question: What is love?
This is one of the most difficult questions one must come to answer. Because love is a subjective experience, it varies greatly between individuals.
It’s a sort of alteration to one’s reality — to how one perceives and interprets the world around him or her, as well as his or her relation to it.
It involves thoughts, beliefs and intense emotions. Love is what allows for a connection between two individuals to form.
As is so often the case, however, time is love’s enemy. Or rather, it can be love’s enemy.
At the same time, love can grow stronger and deeper each year, allowing the bond between two individuals to form something almost otherworldly.
So why is it that for some couples, the love manages to last — even grow — while other couples can’t seem to make things work?
The obvious answer is the two individuals aren’t the right matches for each other.
Maybe they were the wrong type. Maybe they simply met at the wrong time in their lives, while living incompatible realities.
But this doesn’t really tell us much. All it states is that the relationship didn’t work because it couldn’t work.
Of course, different relationships fail for different reasons, but at the same time, those who succeed usually only succeed for one reason.
When it comes to love, there are a million ways to fail but only one way to succeed.
Your love must go past the shallow, past the purely emotional, to a state of mutual fascination and mutual respect — mutual admiration.
Admiration is often the missing ingredient.
When you admire an individual, you respect him or her intimately. Admiration is a very personal matter.
While you respect strangers, respect your elders, respect for the sake of respecting, admiring an individual is a much more personal matter.
Especially when that admiration comes paired with romantic love. I’d even go as far as to argue that without a mutual admiration, romantic love can never reach what some would call everlasting love, what the Ancient Greeks referred to as “agape.”
Without a mutual admiration for each other, you and your lover won’t be capable of making it the distance because you will get tired of each other.
You will lose interest in time, and your mind will waver, eventually breaking the bond the two of you have created over the years.
Unfortunately, admiration alone isn’t enough to keep the love alive indefinitely.

What it does do, however, is make it much easier for you to keep that flame burning.
When you admire someone, you never completely lose the need to impress him or her.
Just as those who love wish for that love to be reciprocated, those who admire wish to be admired in return.
This may not hold true when the relationship is a shallow one, when we’re simply admiring from a distance, but when the relationship is an intimate one, we have a need for the people we are with to admire us as we admire them, see us as we see them and love us as we love them.
Those in love already have a level of admiration for each other, but how intense the admiration will vary.
Most relationships hold a shallow mutual admiration — sometimes a one-sided admiration.
If you can manage to admire and feel the need to solicit admiration from your partner — and do so successfully — you create a self-perpetuating cycle feeding into itself, allowing your love to flourish.
The reason you admire the person you love is all that really matters.
Admiration is great. It allows you to bond in a way you otherwise wouldn’t have been able to do.
Yet it’s not so much the admiration itself that makes all the difference but the reason behind it that allows for an amazing partnership.
People don’t admire for the sake of admiring. Like love, admiration is not something you can fake.
You can’t make yourself gaze in wonderment at how incredible this person is.
You can’t make yourself feel proud of all that your partner has accomplished, be proud of his or her strength, beauty, intellect and wisdom.
You can’t just decide the person you love is an incredible specimen because it’s something you must feel.
Something you must feel in response to interacting and spending your life with this individual.
In a sense, this is something the person you’re with must inspire in you. You can’t choose to admire; you need to feel inspired to do so.
As we all know, it takes two to tango. There are countless factors at play, enough to fill several volumes.
If the relationship is right, feels right, then the majority of these factors line up into place.
When a relationship is doomed to fail, it’s because admiration is an impossibility.
Either we aren’t capable of admiring someone, he or she isn’t capable of inspiring admiration in us or vice versa.
Sometimes there is nothing that can be done to make a relationship work. But sometimes there is. . .

MY TOP 5 HEALTHY GHANAIAN LUNCH MEALS

There are always real challenges when thinking about a mid-day meal; And I believe you want healthy options that will keep you full enough for the rest of your day. So, when you do pay me a visit right here in Ghana, try these foods for lunch:

1. Fufu
This food would have been the national dish if not for the fact that, every region has it's own cuisine. Yeah, this country has such a diverse cultural and traditional background.
Mashed yam, plantain and/or cassava is/are what fufu is made up of. It is usually pounded into a pulp and served with soup. It is eaten by scooping some fufu into a morsel, dipping it into the soup, then off you go! Straight into the mouth. But, do ensure that, your hands are properly washed, and eat with your right hand. This is because, using the left hand is mainly associated with being impolite. . .

image

Anyway, Fufu is very satisfying as it is a 'heavy food.' Fufu contains carbohydrates, which is actually good for you, although many fear to gain weight, so won't venture. But fear not! Carbs give energy as we all know, thereby helping the body to ward off diseases. And like every other food or anything in general, too much unnecessary intake will be detrimental to you.

 2. Fried rice with/and chicken or fish.
This is obviously not Ghanaian you may say, and it's true; but it is on the menu of every top Ghanaian restaurant, Frankies, Barcello's, don't let me even get to Papaye! Arguably, the McDonald's of Ghana. lol

 image

A good name is better than riches, and the word ''fried'' certainly has neither of a good name nor a good reputation about it, because of what it connotes, health wise. But you should try this delicious food at lunch time. It should be eaten in moderation, especially if you are patronizing the usual ''check-check'' ones, as most use large quantities of oil, which aint healthy.
The benefits of rice is enormous and we shall get there soon.

 3. Waakye

 image

One dish of Waakye will do you lots of good, I tell you. One dish alone contains rice, salad, gari, beans, spaghetti (we call it 'talia' here, so beware!), etc. It is so nutritious and healthy, in that it contains all the six food groups and even more! Yeah, so, you can never go wrong with Waakye. The black pepper plus stew also contains many nutrients that fight lots of diseases. For example, pepper has Vitamin C in it, which helps fight against a disease like Arthritis. Pepper can help decrease cough and common cold as well. It also increases libido, so take note, husbands and upcoming ones, like myself.

image
As for rice, it's health benefits are just enormous. Rice contains amino acids that help maintain a healthy skin, muscle tissues and also helps to lower blood pressure, due to it's calcium content (especially, brown rice).

 4. Kenkey

 image

I've already talked at length about pepper's health benefits and why you should try it.
Kenkey, whether Fante or Ga Kenkey, plus pepper, whether black or red pepper, with/or/and fish/sardines is as brutal as how a combination of Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in one team, will be. Very tasty.

 image

5. Jollof rice, with/and chicken or fish
Jollof isn't just the baptism of plenty beef or chicken stew and red palm oil to make rice red, it is the creativity and the patience to wait for a well cooked rice!
Jollof rice does take time to be ready and well cooked, but believe you me, it is worth the wait. It is a very common Ghanaian meal, almost eaten at every occasion. I've already stated the health benefits of rice, so I won't go there. As for the stew to mix it up, it all depends on you.
Oh, and by the way, I enjoy jollof too. . .

GHANA NEWS: Ghana is not 2nd most corrupt country in Africa – Mahama fumes

President John Mahama has rejected a recent Transparency International report that Ghana ranks among the most corrupt countries in Africa.

According to the report, the oil-producing West African country is only second to South Africa in terms of corruption perception.

Mahama has described the media interpretation of the survey as “false”.

“This survey was wrongly interpreted as placing Ghana as the second most corrupt country in Africa,” Mahama said at a high level meeting on the National Anti-corruption Action Plan in Accra.

“It is absolutely false and for emphasis I repeat this is absolutely false. Despite all attempts by institutions that sponsored the report to correct this wrong interpretation, leading political figures have continued to spread this false impression.”

“What can be the motivation for a section of our population to be so obsessed in trying to create such an undignified title for ourselves at the expense of our nation’s dignity and our international image?

“I leave the matter to the consciences of such persons. It is sad to say many media networks including our own respected national daily - Graphic - also run along with this falsehood and got the entire country engaged in conversations that should never have taken place.

“Not only did the conversation end up misleading the Ghanaian public, it indeed also gave our country an undeserved negative image amongst the comity of nations and the international community as a whole…

“There was no ranking in that report and it is absolutely false that Ghana is the second most corrupt country in Africa. We reject it completely.”

GHANA NEWS: President Mahama Retains Veep

President John Mahama has decided to maintain Vice-President Kwesi Amissah Arthur as his running mate for the 2016 elections, according to Class News sources at the party's ongoing National Executive Committee meeting on Monday November 7.
The decision follows intense internal jostling by various groups for their preferred candidates to be chosen by the President. The lobbying started after the NDC gave the President a December 31 ultimatum to name his running mate.

Amidst the jostling, pollster Ben Ephson warned that President Mahama will lose the 2016 presidential election if he fails to retain Mr Amissah-Arthur as running mate.

“If President Mahama changes Mr Amissah-Arthur, he is heading for defeat,” the Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper said in an interview.

“You don’t change a winning team,” he warned, adding: “…Even [Nana] Akufo-Addo [flagbearer of the biggest opposition party] is retaining [Dr Mahamudu] Bawumia… So, why do you change a winning team?” Mr Ephson asked.

Mr Ephson’s warning came on the heels of calls by a group calling itself Volta Youth for Development, for President Mahama to replace the Vice-President with Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho. The group argued that Mr Amissah-Arthur is “incompetent”.

Its leader, Prosper Fofo Ndekor said that President Mahama and the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) risked losing the 2016 general elections if the former governor of the central bank was retained as running mate.

In the group’s estimation, the loyalty of the Volta Region to the NDC over the years must be rewarded with the selection of Mr Adjaho as running mate.

To buttress the group’s incompetence charge against Mr Amissah-Arthur, Mr Fofo Ndekor asked: “How many times do we hear of the activeness of the Vice President?”

He also cited a situation a few months ago, where Foreign Affairs Minister Hanna Tetteh represented the president at a forum held in Accra instead of the vice-president doing so, a situation which forced former President Jerry Rawlings to raise a protest.

“It’s a clear indication that even the president knows his vice-president is incompetent,” Mr Fofo Ndekor said.

Also, a senior official at development NGO ISODEC, Dr Steve Manteaw, said the fact that the country is facing economic challenges does not suggest Vice-President Amissah-Arthur is a poor performer, because the country's problems are not his creation.

Dr Manteaw said the country's challenges came about largely because of the over-expenditure that characterised the 2012 campaign.

The vice-president, according to Dr Manteaw, is doing his best as the head of the economic management team, with the Finance Ministry, to see how the country can get out of the doldrums. Therefore, it will be wrong, he said, for anybody to judge him on the basis of the economic challenges and the fact that he is not visible in the country.

Dr Manteaw made these observations in an interview with Class91.3fm's Regina Borley-Bortey on whether or not President Mahama should repeat Mr Amissah-Arthur as his running mate.

"The general expectation has been that you must be charismatic, you must be seen or judged as actually delivering or performing your role, but for those who understand what the role of the Vice-President is, you will appreciate that the fact that Mr Amissah-Arthur is not visible does not in itself suggest he is not performing," Dr Manteaw stressed.

According to him, Mr Amissah-Arthur is a technical person and that it has been a tradition for some time now for presidential candidates to look for a technocrat to give them that technical backing because the vice-president heads the Economic Management Team. "So, you need someone who understands a bit of economics," he added.

In his view, similar considerations informed the selection of Dr Mahamadu Bawumia as running mate for Nana Akufo-Addo, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Dr Manteaw observed that people like Dr Bawumia and Mr Amissah-Arthur are technocrats who make things happen in the background.

In his words: "You don’t expect a Vice-President to overshadow the president and to be seen in the limelight most of the time and that is the reason why Amissah-Arthur does not look like the shining star."

In response to whether the Vice-President should be retained by the President, Dr Manteaw asked: "Who changes a winning team?"

"Two of them went for the contest in 2012 and won, and, so, I don’t expect President Mahama to a make a change. You don’t fix it when it’s not broken, so, my expectation is that President Mahama will maintain his running mate," he added.

Differences Between Normal Vaginal Discharge & Infections

Glands inside the vagina and cervix normally make small amounts of fluid, which flows out of the vagina each day as vaginal discharge, carrying out old cells that once lined the vagina.

This is the body’s way of keeping vagina healthy and clean. The discharge is usually clear or milky and does not smell abnormal.

The color and thickness of the discharge change as the monthly cycle advances, because it is thicker when the woman ovulates. Also, this can change when the woman is breastfeeding or sexually excited.

Normal vaginal discharge has several purposes that are very important for a healthy environment of the vagina, such as cleaning and moistening the vagina, and helping prevent and fight infections. Each woman should try to notice changes in her vaginal discharge, because some changes may indicate a problem. A woman who thinks she might have a problem should see a doctor as soon as possible.

It’s essential that each woman learns some differences between the normal and abnormal vaginal discharges. This might help recognize changes that may occur. Normal vaginal fluids can vary somewhat in texture and color. They can be thin, sticky, and elastic, or thick and gooey. Generally, vaginal fluids should be clear and white in color.

Different Types Of Discharge:

    * White and thick discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge should not have other symptoms, such as itching. If itching is present with thick white discharge, it can indicate a yeast infection.

    * Clear and stretchy discharge refers to fertile mucous, and means the woman is ovulating.

    * Clear and watery discharge occurs at different times of the cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.

    * Yellow or green vaginal discharge may indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese, or if it has a foul odor.

    * Brown discharge may happen right after periods, and is just cleaning out of the vagina.

    * Spotting blood and brown discharge may occur when you are ovulating mid-cycle. Sometimes early in pregnancy you may have a spotting or a brownish discharge at the time your period would normally appear. If a woman has spotting at the time of normal period rather than the usual amount of flow, and if she had sex without using birth control, she should take a pregnancy test.

What changes may signify a problem?
Changes that may indicate a problem include an increased amount of discharge, an changes in color or smell. If this occurs accompanied by irritation, itchiness, or burning in or around the vagina, it is most likely the result of a condition called vaginitis. A discharge stained with blood when the woman has not having her period could also be a sign of a problem. If you have any of these signs, you should see your doctor. It is very important to keep an eye out for changes in vaginal fluids.

How to prevent vaginitis
After you use the toilet, you should always wipe from front to back. This may help prevent getting bacteria from your rectal area into your vagina, which could cause problems. Wear cotton underpants during the day all the time. The cotton allows your genital area to breathe freely. You should not wear underpants at night. Try to avoid wearing tight pants, pantyhose, swimming suits, biking shorts, or leotards for extended periods of time. Change your laundry detergent if you think it may be irritating your genital area. The latex in condoms and diaphragms, and the sperm-killing gels for birth control can be irritating for some women. If you think one of these is causing problems, ask your doctor for advice about other types of birth control. To prevent vaginitis, try to avoid hot tubs and bathe or shower daily instead, patting your genital area dry. Avoid feminine hygiene sprays, colored or perfumed toilet paper, deodorant pads or tampons, and bubble baths if you really want to prevent any vaginal infection and abnormal vaginal discharge.

Yogurt with live cultures or Lactobacillus acidophilus tablets when on antibiotics can help avoid a yeast infection. Of course, use condoms to avoid catching or spreading sexually transmitted diseases. Keep your blood sugar under good control if you have diabetes, since this is also cause for abnormal vaginal discharge. If the discharge was altered because of a sexually transmitted disease, your sexual partner must receive treatment as well, even if they have no symptoms. Many organisms can harbor themselves without producing noticeable symptoms. Failure of partners to accept treatment can cause continual re-infection. If you do not take care of this, it could lead to serious problem such as infertility.

What causes the changes in vaginal discharge?

Changes of vaginal discharge can occur if the normal balance of healthy germs in your vagina is upset. Many things can disturb the balance of a healthy vagina, including douching, feminine hygiene sprays, certain soaps or bubble baths, antibiotics, diabetes, pregnancy, or infections, as you’ve already heard. Vaginal infections, such as bacterial vaginosis, candidiasis, and trichomoniasis are common causes of abnormal vaginal discharge. Some infections are transmitted sexually, such as gonorrhea, while others can occur with or without having sex, such as bacterial vaginosis or yeast infection. Although the symptoms of these infections can be very similar, there are some differences.

    * Yeast infections may cause your discharge to become very white and thick, resembling cottage cheese formations. A yeast infection usually does not cause a strong odor, but it may cause severe itching and burning as the main symptom.
    * Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is able to cause your discharge to be heavier than usual. The fluids may become foamy or frothy, and grayish in color, with an unpleasant fishy odor.
    * Trichomoniasis is a common sexually transmitted disease, and it may cause a musty, stale odor. If this happens, the discharge may become grayish or yellow-green and may thicken. It could also often cause vaginal itching and pain during urination.

If you have any symptoms of abnormal vaginal discharge, it is very important to see a doctor or visit a teen clinic, especially for girls who have recently had sex without using a condom. Many sexually transmitted diseases cause changes in vaginal discharge or cause other infections that affect discharge as well.

How can douching be harmful for vaginal discharge?
The chemicals in douches may irritate the vagina and change the normal balance of germs. Douching can also spread an infection into the uterus, increasing your risk of getting pelvic inflammatory disease. This is an infection of the fallopian tubes, which can cause infertility and other serious conditions. Douching is not necessary to keep your body clean. Smells you may notice usually come from outside the vagina or your vulva. You should keep this area clean with gentle soap and water to prevent smells.

What is the treatment of common vaginal conditions?
A self-care action plan could be the best treatment for your vaginal condition. You may be familiar with the symptoms of thrush and make your own diagnosis even before you visit the doctor. If you have used a thrush treatment with no improvement, then there may be another cause for the discharge. In this case, you should see your doctor. You should also see your doctor if you find any swellings, sores or skin changes, or if you have any unexpected bleeding.
Bubble bath, perfumed soap, vaginal douches, or the use of disinfectant all destroy the natural acidic vaginal secretions that protect against abnormal conditions. Women who have recurrent thrush may need to take tablets as the only treatment option. Trichomonal, chlamydial, and gonorrhoeal infections should be treated with antibiotics. Bacterial vaginosis may require antibiotic treatment as well. The doctor will treat warts with a solution, or with cryotherapy. A recurrent attack of herpes can be controlled with tablets, especially if very frequent or severe. Most commonly, post-menopausal changes require estrogen-containing creams or hormone replacement therapy. Surgery may be necessary for infected Bartholin’s glands, and occasionally in case of severe skin changes or cancers.

How to help the doctor determine appropriate treatment?
Your doctor will take a medical history and perform a physical examination including a pelvic exam to establish the right diagnosis. Medical history questions may include the following:

    * When did the abnormal vaginal discharge begin?
    * Did you have the same amount and type of vaginal discharge throughout the month?
    * What does the discharge look like?

Your doctor has to be informed about possible odor, pain, itching, burning, and has to be told if your sexual partner has an abnormal discharge as well. For diagnosis of abnormal vaginal discharge, it is also important to report your sexual relationships specifics, like multiple sexual partners, or sexual partners that you do not know very well. It might be important to know if there is anything that relieves the discharge.

The doctor should perform diagnostic tests as well, including cervix cultures, examination of vaginal discharge under the microscope, and Pap smear. Ultimately, the choice of treatment depends on the underlying condition.

CHANGE YOUR BOXERS FOR A HEALTHY PENIS

This week, we take a look at pregnancy and fertility, a vital cog in health, but first, let's discuss few stuff about the male reproductive organ. Although I believe no research has been made into whether wearing dirty undies can lead to infertility, many men don't take care of the penis as they should. Rather, too much unnecessary attention is paid to penis size, instead of basic hygienic tips (such as regular changing boxers or/and briefs) that will keep the penis clean, confident and in shape.
Here are some ways to keep the penis healthy and strong:

1. Shave pubic hairs off neatly. Let the penis have some air, and the testicles too. Leaving a penis bushy like an Amazon forest is not ideal as it can lead to bad odor and boils. And while at it, have a neat haircut too, making sure you shave your armpits and trim your beard and mustache.

2. Change your boxers frequently. Some wear their boxers for a whole week or/and even more! This is not a good practice. Make it a habit to regularly change briefs. And don't wear boxers which are too tight. Your penis doesn't need extra heat.

Here are some more tips (by Maud Akosua Davis, spynewsafrica.com)

3. A clean penis is very important so wash your penis with warm water at least twice a day.Clean the scrotum and under the penis shaft gently and scrub your scrotal sac too.

Maximize Strength Workouts With These Awesome Tips

You go to the gym with one end goal: to build muscle strength. You start to lift your dumbbells and ask yourself how many reps you're "supposed" to do. In a new video from Picture Fit, a YouTube channel dedicated to health and fitness, the answer comes down to your goals, whether it's to build strength, to build muscle, or increase muscle endurance.

To build strength, completing around 1 to 5 reps can stimulate a more efficient neuromuscular drive, (better signal firing rates from the brain to the muscle) and myofibrillar hypertrophy (more force-generation components in muscle fiber known as actin and myosin) for stronger muscles. Picture Fit suggests going at a quick temp, such as a 1-second down and 1-second up cadence, and resting at least 3 minutes in between reps.

Six to 12 is the recommended reps for muscle growth; this range stimulates myofibrillar hypertrophy, too, but not to its full potential. Instead, it stimulates another type of hypertrophy known as sarcoplasmic hypertrophy. This fuels the muscle cell with more cellular fluid, called glycogen (aka stored carbohydrates), and more organelles. Most of these mean a larger albeit not technically stronger muscle.

This may explain why bodybuilders have larger muscles, but are typically weaker compared to professional weight lifters. Doing these reps at a slow and controlled tempo, such as 3-seconds down and 2-seconds up with no more than 90 seconds rest in between reps, is recommended for those focused on growth.

Lastly, if you're looking for more endurance in your workout, it's recommended to do high-intensity reps. This range can be anywhere between 15 to upward 100 reps, and will typically stress out your energy system rather than the muscle itself. This will allow the body to become more energy efficient by adapting to the metabolic stress. High-rep endurance training might not help you lift heavier, but you will be able to lift lighter weights for much longer while using less energy.

Remember, when choosing a rep range, make sure you also choose an appropriate weight. If you feel like you can do at least 3 more reps toward the end of your set, pick up something heavier; if you can't, go lighter.
